Building Faith

 Good afternoon Parents,

It has been a beautiful week on campus. Pastor Flood shared a great lesson with us in chapel. The Gospel CHANGES us!! Ask your student to share with you something they have learned from chapel. Our students are also doing a fantastic job of helping to set up and take down for chapel each week.

MEMORY VERSE PASS! I am in need of clorox wipes or disinfectant cleaner ( I have plenty of paper towels to clean with). Students who bring either item will receive a memory verse pass work 100 points.

6th Grade: SO much happening in our first period classes! The most exciting thing we are learning is to build our faith house. Every house must have a solid foundation. We conquered that last week. This week we have focused on building our walls. Our four walls will consist of four truths per wall. It is very exciting to watch these truths come alive to our students.

Next Friday is the last day to bring in something for our "Date Night" basket that will be auctioned off at the fall festival. Each student is encouraged to bring one item for our basket. Examples: Candles, a soft throw, gift card to a restaurant or florist, ect.

OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD is underway. If you are new to LCS this is a BIG deal. Last year our school collected over 500 boxes!! How exciting!! We have set a goal this year of 600!!! We can do it!! I have challenged my 6th grade class to 50 shoe boxes! If we reach that goal I will give the kids a pizza party!! If we go over 50 boxes then I will add dessert! Packing a shoe box is such a wonderful way as a family to get involved in missions.

7th Grade: We are knee deep in learning what it means to be holy. Jesus is our perfect example of holiness. We as believers, in the flesh, struggle daily with this. We are walking through the truths that we are called to live by in order to strive for holiness. In 1 Peter 1, Peter encourages us by quoting Jesus, Therefore be holy because I am holy. This is one of my favorite units to teach. It is convicting and a good reminder to me of who God created us to be!

8th Grade: The girls have been learning about absolute truth and the difference between our opinion and truth. We have had some great discussion on various topics. We also have looked to scripture and what God teaches us about truth. The girls are learning how culture and society will play a part in shaping thier worldview and why it is so important to know and understand scripture.

9th Grade: We just finished studying the book of Matthew. Students studied the life of Christ according to Matthew's persective. They learned what makes the book of Matthew unique. Monday will start our study on Mark and compare and contrast this to Matthew.

Enjoy your week!!

Blogs are back! YAY

Happy Friday!! Hope that you are all well and staying safe and healthy.

I would like to thank you again for your patience as I am playing the "catch up" game on grades and assignments. I am grateful for your grace.

Please check teams if you have questions about assignments or what is due. Your students know how to long onto teams check this. When we have a test a study guide will always be on teams as well.

We are now into the second quarter. There will be no more warnings and NO more second chances. When students come to my class unprepared, meaning coming to class without their books, Ipad, prayer journal and Bible they will be given detention. Students MUST have a composition book for their prayer journal. If you cannot get one please let me know and I will be happy to provide one.

Grades will be entered in every Friday and Monday (if a test or assignment is due on Friday). If your student is behind or failing I am always willing to give extra credit work for them to do.

6th Grade is collecting items for our Date Night Basket that will be auctioned off at the fall festival. Each student is to provide one item for our basket.  I appreciate the help with this. All proceeds from our fall festival will go to purchase 15 passenger vans for our school. (YAY)

Each week I will be highlighting a different class and BRAGGING on them. Let's start with 6th grade.

6th Grade Bible (Boys and Girls)

Last quarter we learned about worldview, what it is and how we gain a worldview. This quarter we are diving deeper into scripture and how our relationship with God is a reflection of worldview. We are starting with a foundation of faith.  We discussed what our foundation should be built on, the Word of God. Your students discussed the difference in an absolute truth (solid) and opinions (shaky). Our foundation as believers is built on the absolute truth of who God is. This week I will share with you some pictures of the boys getting creative and building a foundation. As we made it we shared scripture about building our house on the solid rock. We discussed that how reading our Bible, prayer, mentors and self study strengthens and supports our foundation. The boys really enjoyed it.

PLEASE send a shoe box full of lego's (labeled with your students name) to school with your 6th grade student. We will be using this to build our house of faith as we study God's word. Lego's will be sent back home when we finish this unit. Please email me if you have any questions.

I hope that you have a wonderful weekend!!

In Christ,

Nancy Williams
